People are always asking me how Garden State Blinds got started and they’re always surprised when I tell them I was only 16 when I started the company. My mom and dad were the perfect role models. They both had strong work ethics and the best marriage I have ever seen to this day! They raised me to be an honorable hard-working man and I am eternally grateful for their help and guidance. My father, Vito Conforti Senior, was a science teacher at Jonas Salk Middle School in Old Bridge, NJ, and he also taught night school. My mother, Honey, was a talented seamstress who made bridal gowns and bridal party dresses. She later began making custom upholstered cornices and draperies for our company. She passed away from breast cancer in 1992. God rest her soul. We have a great team here at Garden State Blinds. Mary Joy has been our Administrative Director since 1999 and is invaluable to our operations. Clare has been a sales representative since 2008 and is an amazing decorating consultant. Frank is a meticulous professional installer who’s been with us for many years. My son Andrew works for the company part-time and attends college full-time. He is studying Business at Rutgers University.
