Our History

Klas Electric, Inc. is a third generation, family owned and operated company founded by Raymond P. Klas in 1962. Ray Sr. graduated from high school as a 16-year-old valedictorian and headed to Montclair State University studying to be a mathematics professor in Montclair, NJ. He left college to enlist in the armed forces during World War II and served as a meteorologist. After returning from his tour with the U.S. Air Force, he changed direction and focused on becoming an electrician. His goal then (as with now) was to provide his customers with the best electrical services possible.

Raymond Klas (his son) began learning the electrical trade by working side-by-side with his father every summer until his father’s death in 1972. Ray graduated from Lincoln Technical School, applied, and passed the Electrical Board exam at the age of 21— the youngest licensed electrical contractor in New Jersey at that time.

Ray founded Klas Electrical Contractors, Inc. in 1983 and since then has strived to be the best by offering superb electrical and generator sales and service to every one of his customers. We are a Kohler Generator Titanium Sales and Service Dealer.
